The same number means different things in different engines.
Running 0.4 in Valorant at 800 DPI and pasting that into CS2 gives a completely different turn distance because each engine uses a different yaw multiplier. The converter handles the ratio so you start in the right range instead of guessing for an hour in deathmatch.

The output is a starting point. Play two rounds, check your micro-adjustments, then decide if you need to nudge it. That beats blindly copying TenZ's settings without knowing his DPI, mousepad, or FOV.
