Fortnite gift cards: what each card buys
Fortnite gift cards are dollar cards now. They add $15, $30, $50, $100 or a custom amount up to $150 to an Epic account, and you buy V-Bucks packs with the balance at the normal price.

- Leftover balance stays. Epic account balance doesn't expire, so it adds up with the next card.
- Where it works. Redeem and spend it on the Epic Games Store, or in game on PC, mobile or cloud. It can't be spent in the PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo stores, but V-Bucks bought with it show up on PlayStation and Xbox. They don't show up on Switch.
- Epic Rewards still apply. Paying with Epic balance earns the same 20% back in Fortnite as paying by card.
- Free outfit until Dec 31, 2026. A player's first gift card redemption includes the GHOST Monks Outfit. Older V-Bucks cards don't count.
- Old V-Bucks cards still redeem for the V-Bucks amount printed on them.
- For parents. Epic's parental controls can require a PIN for real-money purchases, and accounts under 13 have a $100 daily spending limit unless a parent enters the PIN.

What V-Bucks buy
Pass prices from Epic and Item Shop prices seen on fortnite.com.
The Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks, about $8.99 of V-Bucks from the 800 pack, and completing it awards 800 V-Bucks. That covers the next pass. Before March 19, 2026 it cost 1,000 and could return 1,500 with Bonus Rewards; Epic removed the bonus V-Bucks. The Battle Bundle costs 2,600, the OG Pass 800, and the Music and LEGO Passes 1,200 each.
On September 24, 2026, Fortnite's web Item Shop listed outfits mostly at 800, 1,200, and 1,500 V-Bucks, emotes at 300 to 500, pickaxes at 500 or 800, back blings at 200 to 500, Jam Tracks at 500, and bundles from 1,200 to 4,500. The shop rotates daily, so treat these as typical tiers rather than fixed prices.
A 1,500 V-Bucks outfit needs 1,600 V-Bucks from two 800 packs ($17.98) unless you already have a balance.
Fortnite bundle calculator: price minus items you own
A Fortnite bundle costs you its Item Shop price minus the separate prices of any items you already own. Epic's help article (opens in new tab) says you see the bundle's V-Bucks “minus the cost of the cosmetics that you already have in your locker” (checked September 2026). Bundles also cost less than buying the same items one by one.
Your price = bundle price − separate prices of the items you own
Worked example, using example prices from common shop tiers (not a real listing): a 2,200 V-Bucks bundle holds a 1,500 V-Bucks outfit, an 800 V-Bucks pickaxe, a 500 V-Bucks emote, and a 300 V-Bucks emote. If you already own the 800 V-Bucks pickaxe, you pay 2,200 − 800 = 1,400 V-Bucks. The three items you still need cost 2,300 V-Bucks bought separately, so the bundle still saves 900 V-Bucks (39%). Starting from zero V-Bucks, the cheapest standard packs for 1,400 are 2× 800 packs for $17.98, which leaves 200 V-Bucks.
If the items you own add up to the bundle price or more, the formula has no answer and the Item Shop shows the final price. Epic doesn't publish a minimum. Sportskeeda reported a case (opens in new tab) where the remaining items cost 100 V-Bucks, and a bundle can also stop being offered to you.
Gifting works differently. The owned-item deduction only applies to the account that owns the items, so a gifted bundle doesn't get it. Epic says the gift price always appears in the gifting window, so check it there before you send.
To measure the discount itself, compare the bundle price with what the same items cost bought one by one:
Discount % = (separate total − bundle price) ÷ separate total × 100
With nothing owned, the example items cost 3,100 V-Bucks separately, so the 2,200 V-Bucks bundle saves 900 V-Bucks, or 29% (900 ÷ 3,100). In dollars, the cheapest way to cover 2,200 V-Bucks with standard packs is the 2,400 pack for $22.99, while the items separately would take 2,400 + 800 packs for $31.98. Because Epic sells V-Bucks only in fixed packs, the dollar saving can be larger or smaller than the V-Bucks saving suggests.

Fortnite Crew vs. buying V-Bucks
Which option gives more value for regular spenders.
Fortnite Crew (opens in new tab) costs $11.99 a month in the US, per the Microsoft Store US listing (opens in new tab) checked September 2026. It includes 800 V-Bucks, the current Battle Pass, OG Pass, LEGO Pass, and Music Pass, Rocket Pass Premium in Rocket League, and a monthly Crew Pack. The V-Bucks grant was 1,000 before Epic's 2026 change.
The 800 V-Bucks alone cost $8.99 as a pack, so Crew costs $3.00 more than those V-Bucks. That extra buys the passes and the Crew Pack. If you would buy the Battle Pass anyway, remember it already pays for itself once completed.
If you play occasionally and skip seasons, buying V-Bucks as needed costs less. Crew makes sense while you use the included passes every month.
Platform differences
Where you buy changes what you pay and where the V-Bucks show up.
Purchases through Epic's payment system on PC, iOS, Android, or the web get 20% back in Epic Rewards, which Epic lists as $17.99 back on the $89.99 pack. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo purchases go through those stores instead.
According to Epic's support page (opens in new tab), V-Bucks bought on Nintendo Switch are not shared with other platforms, and V-Bucks bought elsewhere don't show on Switch. V-Bucks earned from passes, Quest Packs, or Save the World, and every item you buy, are shared everywhere.
