Who gets what on each sale

Shares by sale type, from the Roblox Creator Hub.

  • Game pass or dev product: you keep 70%. Also applies to private servers and Robux-priced subscriptions.
  • Avatar item, Marketplace sale: you keep 30%. Base 30%. Items priced above their price floor earn more, up to 70% at 6x the floor.
  • Avatar item sold in your own game: you keep 70%. 30% as the item creator plus 40% as the game owner. If you only own the game, you get 40%.
  • Limited resale: you keep 50%. The reseller gets 50%. The original creator and the selling game each get 10%.

Roblox Plus members pay 10% less, or 20% less from their third month, but Roblox covers that discount, so your share stays the same. Cross-game pass sales ended on May 30, 2026.

Roblox tax calculator FAQ

Platform fees, DevEx eligibility, and earning as a Roblox creator.

Roblox keeps 30% of each game pass and developer product sale, and you keep 70%. A 100 Robux pass pays you 70 Robux. Private servers and Robux-priced subscriptions use the same 70% share.
Charge 143 Robux. 70% of 143 is 100 after rounding down, which covers the 100 you want to keep. To keep any amount, divide it by 0.7 and round up.
Roblox takes 30% of game passes, developer products, private servers and Robux-priced subscriptions, so you keep 70%. Avatar items and Marketplace sales work differently: the creator gets a base 30%, and an item sold inside a game splits 30% to the item creator and 40% to the game owner. Every sale type is listed under "Who gets what on each sale" on this page.
Roblox keeps 300 Robux of a 1,000 Robux game pass or developer product, and you keep 700. At the standard DevEx rate that is $2.66, before any tax withholding.
The 30% is a Roblox platform fee, not a tax. Tax comes in when you cash out through DevEx: Roblox classifies DevEx payments as royalties from November 1, 2026. U.S. creators with a valid W-9 have nothing withheld. Creators outside the U.S. can have 0% to 30% withheld from the part of a payout that comes from U.S. players, and anyone without valid tax information may have 24% withheld from the whole payout. Withholding is separate from income tax in your own country, which this calculator does not cover. The DevEx calculator on Mansone estimates the withholding for your balance.
No. For avatar items sold in the Marketplace, the creator gets a base 30%, rising to 70% for items priced at 6x their price floor or more. If the item sells inside a game, the item creator gets 30% and the game owner gets 40%. (Source: Roblox Creator Hub, Marketplace fees and commissions)
No. Plus subscribers get 10% off, or 20% from their third month, but Roblox covers the discount. A 100 Robux pass still pays you 70 Robux when a Plus member buys it.
The standard rate is $0.0038 per Earned Robux, so 30,000 Robux is $114.00. Since June 8, 2026, eligible sales to age-checked U.S. players 18+ in qualifying games cash out at $0.0054.
At 100 Robux per pass, 429 sales. Each sale pays 70 Robux, and DevEx needs at least 30,000 Earned Robux.
No. Roblox disabled cross-game pass sales on May 30, 2026 and recommends Robux transfers for games that relied on them.
It can be. Roblox classifies DevEx payments as royalties from November 1, 2026. Creators outside the U.S. can have 0% to 30% U.S. withholding on the part of a payout from U.S. players, and anyone without valid tax information may have 24% withheld from the whole payout. The DevEx calculator estimates the withholding for your balance.
