Find the aspect ratio from resolution, or calculate resolution from a ratio. Covers standard, ultrawide, and super-ultrawide displays.
How display ratio affects what you see in-game.
A 21:9 34" ultrawide can show more horizontal space than a 16:9 27" display when the game supports it. That can help with peripheral vision in Apex Legends. Some competitive games, including Valorant, crop the top and bottom instead of extending the sides.
Aspect ratio determines how much of the game world you see. At the same vertical field of view, a wider display shows more to your left and right. This is a genuine advantage in games that support it. But not all games handle ultrawide well.
CS2 players often do the opposite: play on 4:3 stretched to make player models appear wider. The trade-off is less peripheral vision. At the highest levels, some pros prefer 4:3 for the visual magnification effect, while others stick to 16:9 for the wider view.
